At Northwest Vein Center, we are pleased to offer the VNUS Closure® procedure, in addition to other treatment modalities, for the comprehensive management of vein disease. The Closure procedure treats venous reflux disease in the superficial venous system using radiofrequency to produce a fibrotic seal which closes the diseased vein.

Using ultrasound, the Closure Catheter is positioned into the varicose vein through a small incision in the skin. The catheter delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy to the vein wall. As the catheter is withdrawn, the RF energy heats the vein wall causing the collagen in the wall to shrink and the vein to close. Afterwards, a compression bandage is applied to the leg and you will be up and walking immediately following the procedure.

Highlights of the Closure Procedure

· Quick symptomatic relief
· Resume normal activities within 1-2 days
· Outpatient procedure
· No general anesthesia
· Good cosmetic outcome with minimal to no scarring, bruising or swelling
